How does your organization handle tranformation? Specifically the impact of changing technology stack on its employees.

Most companies take one of three typical routes:

  • Reskill
  • Replace
  • Augment


Applied with a broad brush stroke, these are all bad options. Reskilling takes time. Replacing introduces risk. Augmenting increases cost.

Most pseudo agile organizations do not have a choice but to go with the broad brush. The lack of top level resiliency means they end up using a spreadsheet based filter-and-fire approach, the fastest way to move the transformation metrics up. The impact of this approach does not show up for another quarter, but it does show one day. A more nuanced approach would be to apply a decision matrix at a team level.
